The cool thing is that the OSDL is located in Beaverton, Oregon. That's where I grew up and spent the first 18 years of my life. The crappy thing is, Linus isn't moving to Oregon. He's going to be working from his house in Santa Barbara, CA. I was hoping that maybe I could at least get to meet him sometime in the furture.

A lot of good can come from this. He is a talented guy, and the linux kernel has a lot of umph behind it to back that up.
Thinking about this move of his though....it made me a bit more comfortable with the SCO crap that is going on. If Linus is leaving a solid gig for a while to work on the Linux kernel....that is an indication that he is not afraid of any of the threats against linux. As I like to say::: "Give Me Linux or Give Me Death" -I think the credit of that quote goes to Patrick Henry Torvalds, Linus' great great great grandfather who was around for the American Revolution, but was not paid any attention to since he played around with that confounded PC contraption...LOL |
