Hi all,

Sorry if this is a lame question.

Can any one direct me to a good site where I can learn more about the Win2K registry, how it works and how to edit it, how to back it up etc.

The reason I would like learn more is detailed below:

I am having problems uninstalling a program called InCD, I think it came with NeroCD but I could be mistaken. It wont uninstall. From the control panel add/remove program, when I try to remove it, it says - "it could not be detected". If I try and delete it from windows explorer it says - "it is in use". When I start the computer and the desktop appears I see a splash screen for InCD so I presume it is in the registry. It has an icon (with a yellow exclamation mark) on the start bar near the clock. I think it is giving me some grief with me CD burner.

Anyway all I know about the registry is that you can do serious damage and you shouldn't stuff with it if you dont what you are doing.

Thanks for your help
Sike

Why don't you try your favorite search engine to find some sites - you'll get a lot of hits and you'll have to look at some of them to determine which ones provide details at your level.

To really get to know the registry you'll need to practice editting it but before you do, I'd recommend that you learn the process of registry backup and restoration perfectly. You may also want to make an Image of the OS partition with something like Norton Ghost or Power Quest's Drive Image, this way you're less than a half hour from a fully restored system if and when you need it.
