I"m working with a Dell Latitude 610 using Windows 2000.

When browsing for documents from Office 97 programs or double clicking My Computer, the Files and folders take about 1-2 minutes to come up.

I"ve run defrag and chkdsk, checked drivers, run antivirus, checked recently installed software, reinstalled Office 97 with no changes. I know I've run accrossed this problem before, but short of reinstalling the OS, what's causing this problem?

Hi Dontech - it might help if we can see whats running on the PC. Go here (http://www.spywareinfo.com/files/hijackthis.zip) and download and run a scan with Hijack This. Dont make any changes, just click on Save Log, copy it and post it back in this thread.

Ok, the web has several resolutions to this problem, these range from:

-Disabling Windows Explorer Navigation sounds in Control Panel
-Resetting Folder Options in Windows Explorer to Default
-Check Drivespace setting in IE 6.0 Internet Options -General
-Make sure Drive Map settings are correct,

This last one solved the issue, I had two mapped drives not responding- disconnected these drives and bingo!

thanks anyways.
