NAT Help
Recently i have setup a Wifi enabled broadband gateway. It was created by a company called Network Everywhere . It incorporates a standard NAT, a four port switch with 1 uplink, and a Wifi system. Network everywhere is a part of the LinkSys Company. I have followed the instructions from both companies, neither of which work. My ip on the network is 192.168.1.35 and it is static. I'm trying to run a web server on that pc. You can access from the LAN but it seems to be blocked by the WAN. I have even tried putting the pc in the DMZ... No dice. Running dial-up it works, so my isp does not block the port. This leads me to think the router is blocking it. The port the web interface the router uses is 9778. and the instructions say it is capable of forwarding port 80 to any pc on the system. I have tried using a different port and several different servers. Nothing works. this only happens to HTTP servers. I can run an FTP, a NEWS server, a VNC server, and a VPN server and they all work flawlessly. But anything based off of the HTTP protocol does not seem to work even through non-standard ports. I also have tried other operating systems like Mac OSX.2 (a.k.a. OS 10.2 or Jaguar), Linux (Red Hat 8), and Win XP Home, but none work. Currently i am using XP Home. I would like to know if anyone has a solution or has had this problem.
Thanks for the help

Sure once in a while you get a peanut butter cup or an English toffee but its gone to fast and the taste is fleeting. In the end, you're left with nothing but broken bits filled with hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts, which if you are desperate enough to eat leaves nothing but an empty box of useless brown paper wrappers. I'm running a Linksys router, and have setup several for other people. Looking at the setup in the manual for that router it's the same as the Linksys. If you go to the Advanced tab>>Forwarding tab, then set port 80 / tcp to forward to your server and it dosen't work.....I'd be looking at a defect in the router. I doubt your ISP has blocked HTTP requests on all ports, why do that and leave the standard FTP port open?

The only thing you should need to do is.....
In the router setup select the Advanced tab, then the forwarding tab, set the following values..... Ext port-------80 to 80 protocol------TCP Ip address----xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx(address of web server) Enable Apply You shouldn't need to use DMZ or anything else. [edit]It should look something like this[/edit] |
