Stop Error

When booting up in W2K prof., I am getting a stop error/blue screen--"ntdll.dll file missing if this is the first time you have seen this screen." After rebooting, I get a different error "inaccessible boot device." I've tried using the W2K CD to repair the missing/corrupted files but when trying to boot getting same error. If anyone has any ideas or know how to repair this problem please respond.

have you scanned your hard disk for errors? using any type of scanning software... you might want to try that or try reformatting and doing a clean install.

So, you're stuck with mostly undefinable whipped mint crap, mindlessly wolfed down when there's nothing else to eat while your watching the game. Sure once in a while you get a peanut butter cup or an English toffee but its gone to fast and the taste is fleeting. In the end, you're left with nothing but broken bits filled with hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts, which if you are desperate enough to eat leaves nothing but an empty box of useless brown paper wrappers.

I did scan my hdd with Symantec virus scan (no viruses in boot sector). Actually, reformatting is what I'm trying to avoid but thanks for the advice.

Yes, I completed a scandisk, auto-check, registry check, and a windows check--all was well.

Well if you have not found any errors on the disk... try to browse your W2K Pro disk for the

ntdll.dll

if that doesn't solve it, back up your data to a CD (everything you want except W2K) and reformat. But if anyone has any other suggestions check in on that before you decide to reformat.

It was suggested that I check any new hardware/software recently added to my computer and troubleshoot it. After completing this step, I finally narrowed the problem down to the device drivers for the sound card (Acer '97). It appears there is a conflict between the software and W2k os. Still trying to find the patch or upgrade to repair this quandry. If anyone is familiar with this, please help.
