Could anyone help?

Im using a print server from d-link and its model is dp101p+. i only use netbeui protocol in printing and mapping the print server
and i used net use commands only. Right now im trying to use tcp/ip instead and im having trouble on printing to it.

Is there a way to print characters/text from windows dos using tcp/ip protocol to a print server across a network?

In relation to the above question, can i also mapped the network printer to a port let say lpt3?

I hope you can help me find solution....

Generally speaking, DOS is not a "network" operating system. It can be used on a Windows network, using NetBEUI. I have never seen a TCP/IP enabled version of DOS.

What exactly do you mean by windows dos?
A little more info on the systems being used might be helpful.

Sorry what i mean from windows dos is the msdos prompt. Im using win98 se only with my dos POS application.

To clarify things, my problem is, i cannot use the netbeui anymore in capturing the print server and printing to it using copy command in dos when i configure the print server to use tcp/ip instead of netbeui. It keep saying error 53 the server name and shared folder cannot be located etc.

Questions:

Do you have the printer working in Windows? In other words, can you print to the printer in question through a Windows printer driver? If you can, then what happens when you set the Windows printer driver for that printer to 'Capture Printer Port'? That should allow you to print from a DOS indow under Windows. It still won't let you print to the printer inpure DOS mode though.
