NS 4.7 and IE 5.5 java and active x issues
I am having trble with both brwsers. both have been updated.
first netscape. Many sites now dont display hyperlinks or html imbedded images on their pages. For instance if I go to my card league site and clik on the backdoor links. the page tht opens is blank and says page done on bottom. Java applette games tend to crash . and frequently there is a little yellow icon at bottom that says 'done but with errors on page.. the other issue is tht all of a sudden sites, message boards, yahoo. dsl say tht the netscape browser is no longer supported and I should upgrade.. stating tht browser no longer supports frames. I have no interest in netscape 7.2 it seems huge and bloated so should i fix it or reinstall. IE has troublle connecting to my dsl usb modem at times. I frequently have to clik the try again icon , thinks its offline. pages now frequently are missing some graphics with white spaces and lil red x's in their place. While hyperlinking and html content are no prbls, I am no longer able to do such things as downloads from websites. such as this one. It says plug in failure, or plugin not found. there is a lil wscriping icon in the corner, sometimes it directs me to microsofts active x download page 'maybe u can find what ur looking for here'. but I have no idea which of dozens prgs to download. I am running w98se thru a p111 760mz chip using a usb modem and dsl to connect to the web. I use both browsers but prefer NE, its def a bit clunkier than IE but doesnt take the OS with it when it dumps. thx for listening :no: :grit: ur mission should u decide to accept it. Is to give me a bit of advice and game plan. i would appreciate it

heres a solution i use sometimes, i use mozilla its from mozilla.org and is an open source form of netscape it not bloated. also try upgrading to ie6 that may help or run the ie repair util from the add/remove programs control panel applet. that might work

hey . I was just checking into using mozzila or opera as an alternative to loading fat old netscape 7.2,
as far as IE goes. is there a compelling reason to upgrade to 6.0 I dont use rather than fixijng or reloading my current version with the updates. Do u perhaps have a link to a good support forum re mozZIla and its different versions thanks for taking the time to respond to my post

tx a lot for the link to the community forum. I will immerse in it and check it out. It seems to be just what the doctor ordered
as far as questions about the; acual browser, I have several having to do with compatibility with my wx os and the use of dsl thru the usb modem. as well as java and html. bugs I would like it to be my main browser. actually anything other than IE. so thx for the helping hand and be assured tht if i have questions i will take u up on ur offer I would still liike some opinions of the benefits of upgrading IE to 6.0 or higher from my updated 5.5  the pple and answers at this forum are rockin

Upgrading to IE 6 can make you system slightly more stable. It also supports more coding formats. Also more commands from both the command line level and the scripting withing the page being displayed.
It is also a little more conforming to the W3c Specs.
