Last week I had a problem with my system freezing up and getting a fatal exception when I clicked the Start Button. I downloaded a VXD fix executable from the web site Revolution and that has taken care of the problem, but now I have no sound. I have been out of town since I did the VXD fix but my daughter said there has been no sould all week. Not sure when it stopped.

Any suggestions

Hi there,

Check in the Control Panel, System, Device Manager for conflicts. Also check in Multimedia to see if Volume has been turned down. If you have a program for playing sounds, such as CD's, check in there for settings that would effect sound levels.

Possible: You may need to remove the sound card drivers then reinstall them to get things to work.

All settings appear to be OK. Don't see any conflicts. I have the restore disk, would the drivers be on there? Can I just install the sound drivers?

Restore disk? What kind of computer do you have?

You may be able to boot off the CD and restore just the drivers. You'll need to look at the manual and/or the CD for instructions.

I have a Compaq model 7470, 64MB Ram, AMD-K6 2/533 Processer. I tried to restore the drivers restore on the HD not CD. Still no sound.

Sound was fine before I installed VXD fix. Not sure what that did or does.

ltctom22,

The VXD fix is uninstallable. Look in Add/Remove programs for it. Or read the documentation that came with the download which will tell you how to uninstall it :)

What soundcard do you have ? If you know the soundcard make and model we can find you the right drivers for you so you can then reinstall them.

However, the VXD fix should not have affected your sound whatsoever.
