what do TEMP files open with

this might sound like a strange question but what do temp files run with. the other day i was downloading an MP3 from AG satalite. these are resumable downloads so it stores a TEMP file in the specified folder before converting to the appropriate application to run the file. whilst downloading i like to listen to the file by selecting open with, unchecking the "always use this program to open this file" and selecting my MP3 player. this has always worked fine. but the other day i forgot to uncheck the box where it said "always use this program to open this file" so it permanently opened with the wrong file. i managed to convert it back to so that it doesnt open with that selected program but now when i right click the file i dont have the option to "OPEN WITH" is there any way that i can get this back?

Hi,

Single left click the file u want to use "Open With" then hold down the shift key and right click the file. That should give you the Open With option.

I can't say I have ever tried opening one of the tmp files that are generated by a download manager, or whilst its in the progress of downloading. What download manager are you using ?

They run with the program that put them there. They are only temporary. If any are left behind delete them to the recycle bin for a couple of days to make sure it's alright to delete them totally. In the many years that I've used computers, I've never deleted a .tmp file that was needed for any thing once all programs were closed and/or installed.
