CD ROM and CD-RW suddenly unaccesible
Hello:
I am using a Compaq Presario 5284. I'm running Win98 using an AMD K-6 CPU. The CD ROM came with the computer, I think it's a Hitachi. The CD-RW is a TEAC I installed later. Things were fine until suddenly, Today I can't access either. The CD ROM is not accesible and cannot read any CD's and the CD-RW is not even in the My Computer Window. When I look at the device manager it only shows 1 drive, a drive I set up for games. It doesn't show the CD ROM or the CD-RW. When I look at the Hard Disk Controllers I get an exclamation mark on Primary IDE controller and another exclamation mark on Secondary IDE controller. What should I do? Thanks. I'm new at posting anything so please excuse any error in my etiquette. |

Solved
Hello:
Using Aida32, the freeware I found on Cyber Tech, I was able to get the info on the chipset in my computer. I downloaded and installed the upgrade. Problem solved. Thank you |
