View Full Version : DirectX woes...

I recently got a new pc with Win2k, a 1.8ghz Intel 4 processor and a GeForce2 MX/MX400 graphix card. I got DirectX 9 atm (though I had the same problem with 7 and 8).

Well, DirectX doesnt seem to work. I cant play any 3d games or anything. If I run dxdiag the direct3d tests fail...and DirectDraw tests partially work (first one pass in all tries, first two pass if i reduce Hardware acceleration in settings).

Funny thing is Directx did work once in the middle after a reformat...but it mysteriously stopped working after I uninstalled Nero or something. Formatting the Pc and reinstalling everything again didnt help. It wont work. What could be wrong? And how can I fix it?

P.S Naturally I tried all the drivers for my card. The latest and also ver. 30.82 which is supposed to be the most stable...still no luck.

I've had the same problems installing my Nvidia MX200 card on windows XP. Microsoft has not signed the drivers so BSOD's were very common during games. I did transfer the card to a different pc running WINxp and it didn't give me nearly as much trouble. I felt it was more motherboard related. Try a bios update and maybe swap the card into another slot unless its agp in which case are you able to exchange it for another?

Hope this helps.

Well I "solved" it. It wasnt an operating system fault at all..
It was the card. ITs actually a 32mb card masquarading as a 64mb card for one thing!

Anyway I fixed it by setting it to AGP 2x from the default of AGP 4x in advanced settings.

Hope this helps anyone out there wih similar problems

Cya all!
