Monitor Colors

Hi, Specs; AMD Duron, 800, 512Ram AMbios.
My problem is in the color settings. I got all drivers installed but the video. I only got 16 colors. When I boot up my bios recognises the card. This shows at bootup.

NVIDIA TNT2 model 64 VGA Bios

When I install ME I dont have any probs.
What do I do to get all the colors. I tried to change drivers, with no luck.

Since you said "When I install ME I dont have any probs," I'm guessing you've tried to install a different operating system. 98 I guess since this is the Win98 forum.

First check in Display Properties (Control Panel>Dislpay) on the Settings tab, to see if you can chance the screen resolution and Color Quality there.

If not, click on the Advanced button and make sure the computer is using the right Adapter (video card).

If it's not, go into Device Manger (Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager) expand the Display Adapter category by clicking on the plus sign and see if the correct card is listed. If it is, go to the Driver tab and click on the Update Driver and see if it will find and install the new drivers you downloaded.

Note: If you got the video drivers from the Microsoft Update site, that is most likely the problem. Go to http://www.guru3d.com/files/, follow the links to Video Card drivers, then Nvidia Detonator Drivers. You might have to try several versions before you get one that works with your system.

Hi Miz, Sorry bout the misunderstanding. I will try to clarify.
The machine is one I put together to play with and learn on.
I have a small HDD that I use for experimenting. I installed 98SE
on the drive but the colors or resolution wont change, It is locked in 640X480--16 colors. I tried to change the adapter to the NVidia but it was not the correct one (NVidia Riva 128). The pewter said the driver was not writen for this card and may not work. It didn't. The reference to ME was on the same drive when installed, the correct adapter was loaded and worked fine.
I also tried to make it find drivers on the ME disk for 98. no luck.
BTW it is using (adptr) Standard PCI Grafics Adapter (VGA)
Also the guru link is dead.

:thumb: Hi Miz, Thanks for the tip to the driver website. I downloaded 3, first one made my screen look like a PC tower, tall and narrow. the third one did the trick and it is perfect like it should be. Altho the link you posted dont work I used the info to get to the driver site.
