This problem developed after uninstalling some spyware
sidebar that got installed on IE 6. When I launch IE and click on a URL it takes me to that page, but then I can't make it go back to the original one. Clicking on the back button doesn't do anything, neither rightclicking on the page and selecting "back." All the other buttons work fine. Also, if I go to File, New Page it doesn't launch a second page. The weird thing is that if I go to Windows Update it crashes saying that iexplore.exe caused a fault on module msxml3.dll, or something along along those lines. When I click on the "don't send" button IE shuts down, relaunches itself and now works fine. I can go back and forth between pages, and I can open new pages by doing the File, New Page bit. If I shut down IE and then launch it again it's back to the original problem. So right now I can only get it to work properly by making it crash and clicking on the "don't send button." I've reinstalled IE 6 several times, even tried 5 and 5.5. They all do the same thing. Please help! I need to have IE up and running today or the user will kill me. . |

I used Lavasoft's AdAware to uninstall it. It detected a data mining program called POP (People on People) or something like that. It did get rid of it, but right after that IE started with that problem I described. What I've noticed is that if I install IE 5.5 it shows the same problem, but when trying to run Windows Update it crashes saying that iexplore.exe caused a fault in module mshtml.dll. IE then relaunches itself and works fine (as long as I don't shut it down). With IE 6 it does the exact same thing, only it mentions msxml3.dll when it crashes.

Have you tried to repair internet explorer?
1)Go to the Control Panel 2) In the Add/Remove Software thing highlight IE and click remove...a box should pop up and you can choose repair IE. |
