I was having problems installing win2000 pro on my second hdd
so a "friend" tried to help me.I was using this drive as a scratch disc for photoshop.
Now it has disappeared. He was mucking about in cmos and I think this is where the problem lies?
I am good with graphics but I am lost when I have to get into the belly of the beast.
Tx in advance.

Hi Welcome to CTH
I split your problem out from the other one you posted in, in case there were no replies to the other poster. Then your problem would of gotten lost.
So I started a new thread for your problem. If you need to respond just hit the Reply button within this thread.
Now to your specific problem:
"I was having problems installing win2000 pro on my second hdd"
Do you have Win 98 on your main drive? Now trying to put W2K on the 2nd drive?
Reboot when you see the very first screen come up (it's called a Post Screen) hit your DELETE key and you should enter SETUP (CMOS).
Look in there for a menu item with wording like AUTO DETECT IDE Drives and click on it, it should find all your drives, follow the screen prompts. Now SAVE & EXIT and it should be there.

Sorry,
I was offline.
I think you're dealing with a fool here!
I thought my profile would pop up on your end.
I am using WinME. I went into cmos and went through there 4 times and couldn't find anything like auto-detect ide.
I did see that cmos recognizes all 5 of the drives.
And thanks for picking up on my post.
I'll learn!

:D
I'm glad that you found this site.
Not that crossposting is an evil thing, it's just that you'll get redundant responses and someone who is helping you in one thread may not see the proposed solutions that you have tried and that are posted in another thread. It just makes things simpler for everyone, including yourself ;)
