yesterday for no apparent reason i couldnt hear any sound coming from my computer. so i checked the speaker icon at the bottom of my screen only to find out that the wave option had been turned right down. i didnt do this so i dont know why it did it itself. so, i turned it back up. then about 10 mins later it went again. so i turned it back up again. then today i was playing a cd on my computer and it was fine. then i played an MP3 and both the wave option and the CD player option had turned right down. this only started yesterday but has happened a lot in the past 2 days. do u know why?

My guess is that a program is doing it. Something has changed recently where a program is turning it down. I had one do that every time I closed the program the volume level would go back to zero. I finally fixed it by editing the program's .ini file. But I have no idea what you need to do to fix it other than trial and error till you find it...if you ever do. This is one of those mysteries of windows and softwear programs. :(
Pay very, very close attention as to what you are doing, then check the volume level...every time you open, use or close a program. Especially any program that you use to play tunes.
[edit] Just thought of something. Two player programs installed at the same time can cause goffy things like this.

*confused* i have windows media 7, real player 8 basic, musicmatch jukebox and PCDJ mixing software. i have had these installed since ive had my computer and there have been no problems until yesterday. i havent done anything any different from what i usually do so i cant see how it can be a software confilct or anything like that.
i love my computer but sometimes.....i would love to just beat the S**T out of it.

hi there, i nkow this is far fetched but could your sound get turned down because of a hacker's virus or trojan, it might be worth while doing a virus scan. :)
