If you're running WIN98, you don't need config.sys or autoexec.bat files.....they can be empty and Windows will run just fine.
Either via My Computer or Windows Explorer, navigate to the root directory (i.e., C:). Go to View>Folder Options>View tab and click in the radio button beside "Show all files" and if there is a checkmark in the box beside "Hide file extensions for known file types" click in that checkbox to clear it, then click on Apply then OK. Right-click on config.sys, select Rename, then rename it to config.old and then do the same for Autoexec.bat file. If you get the "Are you sure you want to rename this file" dialogue box, click Yes. Now, open Notepad, do not type anything in it and go to File>Save as. Ensure that in the "Save in" field, C: is selected, in the "File name" field key in config.sys and ensure that All Files (*.*) is selected in "Save as type" field, then click on Save button, and repeat the procedure using autoexec.bat for file name. Exit notepad.

Restart your computer and see if the error messages are gone.

Do you happen to have a file, probably in C:\Windows folder, called dosstart.bat?

What error message did you get when you inserted a CD in the drive?

That error message that's causing your CDs to not play is not a recent problem. You've posted about it in at least three separate threads. Have you tried any of the possible troubleshooting steps that were given to you?
