If you're using Windows XP Home you can make her login account one that does not have the ability to install programs. It would be the account type that is not "administrator".
If you're using any of the NT based OSes, NT4, Win2K, or WinXP Pro...you can setup a more restrictive profile for the user. Windows 95, 98, ME, do not have any features to restrict users from installing software. |

Do you have a software or hardware firewall on your connection to the internet?
If so, you could configure either of those to block access to the domains of the programs that you wish her not to install. Also, you could try some type of monitoring software like Cybersitter, NetNanny, or CyberPatrol to block her access to such websites where she can download these sorts of programs. The problem here, is that now you have to seek out all the websites that you want to block her from. |

Windows 95/98/ME have the ability to restrict users from Running Programs.
You would need to setup a policy for the user/group. Within this policy would be a list of programs that the user is allowed to run. Here's one site from a google search on POLEDIT http://www.zisman.ca/poledit/

WHen you're tracking down the sites she uses to get such programs, you can check the history function in your browser and see where she gets it from.
