I had to use a boot disk downloaded from the internet to reformat and reinstall 98 SE on a friends computer.
Now I am have all sorts of problems.

The is telling me that there is no modem installed. Here are the results of the search I did for the modem:

PCI\VEN_11C1

(PCI Communication Device)

As far as I can figure out so far, it's a Lucent Tech modem 11C1.
But I can't find the driver after doing an extensive search on the net.

Can anyone help?........PLEASE

Is this (http://www.agere.com/support/client/modem_driver2.html) what you're looking for?

Is it???......I really couldn't say for sure. Tnx for the link, but it seemed to be for an update to a Lucent modem driver.
The problem is that there is no Lucent modem driver installed to update.

Here is the exact info I got from the computers registry editor:

PCI\VEN_11C1&DEV\04588SUBSYS_044011C1&RE...

(PCI Communication Device)

Does that help more?.......tnx

I couldn't find reference to Device ID 04588, just 0458. It states:

Device ID:
0x0458
Chip Number: 1648C
Description: Mars 3 Mercury v.92 v.44
Notes: Drivers @ http://www.heby.de/ltmodem
Un-posted changes recently submitted:
Description: Mars 3 Mercury v.92 v.44/Lucent 1648ctv5
Notes: /www.agere.com/support/client/modem_dinstruct.html

(the drive site mentioned is for Linux drivers)

For about 95% of the LT Winmodems, this site (http://modemsite.com/56k/ltwin7.asp) is noted as having drivers. According to the information in Device ID description above, this (http://modemsite.com/56k/ltwinv92.asp) might be more applicable. However, you have to subscribe to premium access at that site in order to d/load the drivers available there.

The drivers mentioned in the site that I posted "for about 95% of the LT Winmodems" are the generic driver version 8.28, which is the same version that is d/loadable from the link I gave you in my first response.

I guess the bottom line is that I'm also taking a guess as far as correct drivers are concerned.
