Network ME to 98 compaqs

Having trouble with settings. I know harware and connections are good, had it working before did Factory Restore on both computers. Host is WinME, client is Win98SE. I can "see" the 98 in Network Neighborhood but error message says it's unaccessible. On the Client, in Network Neighborhood, double clicking the Entire Network icon gives "Unable to browse the network" error message. Main reason I'm networking is to share broadband internet connection, which is working fine. Like I said, this all worked before so I'm certain NIC cards, cables and such are OK, I just need help tweaking the setting for Networking and sharing internet. The Network Wizard just ain't cuttin it.

Well, if you have the network setup correctly then you need to share something on each machine.

Information on networking Win9x

How did you plan on sharing the internet connection?
Router, Proxy server, Windows built-in ICS?

Yes, I've got hard drive and My Documents and a printer shared on both computers (the icon has the little hand under it). Both computers will also share the broadband internet connection. I've got the Bellsouth Alcatel USB modem plugged into a Linsys 10/100 5-port workgroup hub. I'm sure all the hardware is connected properly, it worked before I did the restore. I've got all the components in the Network Config: Client for Microsoft; Microsoft Family Logon; Alcatel adapter; Dial-up adapter; ICS adapter; NDIS Net adapter (the client); ICS Protocols for ICS, NDIS, Lynsys and Dial-up; NDISWAN for Alcatel and Microsoft Virtual Private Networking adapter; NetBEUI's for Dial-up adapter, ICS and Lynsys; TCP/IP for Dial-up, Lynksys, NDIS and ICS, and also the File & Printer sharing. I've run the Network wizard on both machines, can't get them to see each other unless I run the wizard WITHOUT internet connection sharing. I've set it up that way and network does fine, just having trouble getting the internet connection shared.

I'm so close!! I can "see" the client from the host and can even access the files. I can "see" the host from the client but can NOT access the files. All sharing functions are activated, the hard drives on both computers have the little shared hand icon on them. There must be some setting on the client that's not right. Any suggestions??

What error message(s) are you getting when you try to access the host's files from the client PC?
