I have a pentium 4 system running Windows 98 2nd edition and something has happened to my sysetm so that it is in a continuous loop where it won't shut down. When I shut it down all it does is reboot every time and the only way I can turn it off is to hit the power switch on the back of the computer. Does anyone have an idea what is wrong and how I can correct this problem.

Hi deltadon47...troubleshooting shutdown problems can be a pain and can involve plenty of trial and error. Go through the suggestions in this MSKB article (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/q202/6/33.ASP&NoWebContent=1).

Did this start recently and have you added/installed new hardware/software that coincided with the problem starting?
