Removing desktop shortcuts

I was wondering if there is a way to remove the desktop shortcuts with messing up my programs or any thing else.

Sure thing you can remove them. They are just links to the programs. Just make sure that you remember where you leave the program. ;)

You want to be sure that it is just a shortcut. They useally have an arrow on them.
