Ron it basicly mentions two possible reasons why the audio features would not work, firewall or not having a full duplex soundcard.
Do you have a firewall installed? Try turning it off and then test your messenger. This is the first step.
Post back and we'll keep widdling this problem down.

Hi,
I had same problem, surfed around and finally found solution that fixed me.
I have pc-cillin anti virus with firewall. To network file share and share internet I have firewall set to a user profile of office set to medium setting. This does not allow audio to connect. I reset firewall to low and now can connect audio. I believe both sending and receiving PC's require firewall to be either of or low settings. Web cam still works on medium setting. You also need to ensure that NATS is enabled, this can be done through your internet provider and apparently there is a problem with intel sound cards. There are a few other things that require checking and I'm not a fast typer therefore if you would like any other advise that i found just ask.
Hope this has helped a little
