Is it possible to play Quake 3 with someone whose PC is not connected to internet but it is just connected with a phone line . I mean u make a call to his PC by ur PC by the game and then both play it together.

Actually , I want to play Quake 3 with my friend whose house is next to mine i.e. so close . Both of us don't have LAN cards. :(

I am interested in learning how to accomplish this as well. Is it a simply matter of a direct cable connection? Can a person play multiplayer games w/out an internet connection (isp)?

Good News bad news. Yes you can do what you are waning to do. (Bad news) There are two ways. 1) You can connect 2 or more computers directly by using a 56k v9.2 modem. Problem is I do not know how to do it. I would have to talk to my family on how the heck they did it. (I think they wrote there own software to accomplish this). 2) This is not exactly what you were looking for, but it would work. Basicly you would have an old computer. (386,486 would work) Also, you would also have to have a seperate phone line. You would have to make a mini dial-up server for the two of you to play. (My friend & I did this just to play each other on Half-Life). Those are the only two options that I know of. Sorry that I do not know how to do the first one. But if you need help with the second, let me know.
