Ok, you've checked all the cables, good, but what else have you done? What OS are you using? Have you accessed the router config and set up your connection type? Entered user name/pass if required? Are you using the router firewall? If so, have you opened ports for programs to access the internet? Is the problem with the computer connected directly to the modem or is it another computer on the network? Have you cloned the MAC address for each computer on the network?

Try pulling the power wire out of the back of the router and then
plugging it back in.

There was a recent firmware release from Linksys. Go get it and
flash (install it) the router.
Linksys Downloads (http://www.linksys.com/download/)
You want any drivers or firmware showing.

beside do you knopw the cause.
You may be getting hits from some worms on other machines.
This is assuming your patched from the RPC exploit to Windows XP/2000 machines.
Are you on a network?

Yes I am on a network. You did mention about worms? what type of worms do you think they are and can you tell me what to do to that, please not after pulling back the power cord to the router I had to restart all the systems on the main network before it could work out.
Waiting to hear from you.

Flavor-of-the-month (slang for what is going around right now)
Welchia
Nachi
and MSBlaster
can you tell me what to do to that
Upgrade the firmware for the router as I explained above.
If your not patched for the RPC exploit and your running
Windows NT
Windows 2000
Windows 2003
Windows XP Home/Pro
then you need the patch from Microsoft
Windows 2000 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&familyid=c8b8a846-f541-4c15-8c9f-220354449117)
Windows XP (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&familyid=2354406c-c5b6-44ac-9532-3de40f69c074)
Windows 2003 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&familyid=f8e0ff3a-9f4c-4061-9009-3a212458e92e)
First you must scan for MSBlaster. Here is Symantec's MSBlaster tool (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FixBlast.exe)

The router has chips inside. Firmware upgrades update the chips with
newer information.

Ok, in the process of upgrade, does it affects the parameters in the router? In most case of upgrade does any problems arise and if there is what can be done to avoid it/to prevent it.

No changes to settings by upgrading.

No problems with Linksys. Follow instructions.
The router can always be reset (reset hole in router).
