Angry Very very long lan logon time

I work in an office with 12 or more computers and 4 of which are running windows xp pro. A few of them were running win xp home edition because that is what was purchased with the computers but i recently switched them over to pro due to the fact that it is easier to logon to a domain. But one HUGE problem is the fact that it takes well over 2 min to logon to the domain. Ahhh! I have become very frustrated with this and i have tried two of the boot time tweaks suggested in the "All XP Users Read This" Thread. I have used bootvis.exe to try to find out what is causing the long boot times but i cant quite seem to figure it out. I went onto the Microsoft Site to see if i could find any documentation but "Microsoft Help" is an oxymoron all in itself. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I found this post on another forum whilst i was searching for some answers...

Quote:
Is this on a domain network? If so, it's probably your Temporary Internet Files folder - for some bizarre reason I've never understood, MS decided to place your temp inet files in your profile, so whenever you log on or off (in a domain setup with a roaming profile) it has to copy the whole bleedin' lot to or from the domain controller...
Is this true??? I tryed clearing my temporary inet files but once again it didnt work

I'm having the same problems and I posted under the network section here

Still having problems, leave it to microsoft to come out with a product with bugs in it.

Talking Fixed!!!

Well i had started my post in the windows XP forum until headtiger99 pointed me to this one. I started reading through all of these threads when i realized that Spider was right in my case. I had pointed all of my workstations to the ISP's servers and not my DNS as a temporary fix while we changed over ISPs... so at least the workstations could use the inet! It slipped my mind until spider had mentioned it. Thanks Spider!!!
