AVG Grisoft Freezes

Appreciate some help.

On a PC running W98SE, have AGV Grisoft installed (Free version). It has run fine for a while, but now it freezes, and the computer, before a scan is fully completed.

Any ideas as to what could be causing the program to stop? Anyone experienced the same thing? Found a solution?

It could be a corrupted update FZWG. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it?

I've had a similar experience with AVG for the past couple of weeks. Sometimes it just hangs....or takes a while to return a message....other times I get a box saying "missing file". I just leave it and return later and it seems to be ok.

The program is installed in a friends PC, and they are having problems with it freezing up. The PC has to be shut down for it will stop dead.

Will try what you suggest, and also running it in Safe Mode.

Ended up uninstalling and downloading/installing AVG 6.0. The AVG 7.0 version does not appear to be free.

So far, so good.
