Why do my resources drop so low?

I haven't been doing too much on my computer this evening, but after playing a game which I occasionally play to relax (Bejewelled) my system resources dropped to just 18%. My question is:

Considering that I have 512MB of RAM, how can my resources drop so low? I use RAM Idle Pro to help organise my memory better, but I am wondering if there is any point in using it since it dos not seem to be helping too much. Sure enough RAM Idle Pro warned me that my resources were low and that I had better quickly save some work, but all I had done was check my e mail, spent about 8 minutes on my sports site, and then took about 12 minutes to play the game.

RAM and System Resources are two different things. RAM is memory, which has nothing to do with Resources. The resource heap is probably being depleted by too many programs running at startup. 18% is very low, and the first place I'd look is msconfig > Startup tab.

Some other thinks you can do, run a scan disk, defrag your drive, run a virus check, check for spyware.

But I do all these things on a very regular basis!
