Question Deletion of files under DOS folder

Hi guys and gals

I'd like to get rid of as much pointless ballast as possible - I like a clean system - and wondered if it's OK to delete files (and folders) under the DOS folder which end in ._mp and .tmp

There are also a couple of folders called _istmp0.dir and _istmp1.dir. Can I throw those overboard?

Btw I have searched the forum but didn't find anything strictly relevant to my query, so I hope I'm not asking what's been asked before.

Thanks for your help

Rory

It's safe to delete all *.tmp files. have you deleted your tempoary internet files lately? also wouldn't hurt to delete all your index.dat files with a program called delindex.

As a side note you can also delete all fonts that DID NOT come with your OS. Frees up space and will decrease bootup time. Might not notice it though.

Thumbs up

Thanks, Brindle. I'll check out the delindex tool. I delete my Internet garbage regularly.
