When I last shut down my computer, it shut down normally . When I went to turn it back on, a few hrs later, it started in safe mode for some reason. While it was in safe mode I did a scan disc and it said it found errors and fixed them. But when I tried to get it back to normal mode I had a devil of a time. Not even sure how I finally got it back to normal. I thought you could hold ctrl or F8 and get that screen where you choose which mode you want to start in but it would never pop up for me. So finally I hit F1 while it was booting up and just flipped thru all the catagories in there, not changing anything, and then just exiting ...which is when it booted up normally again. Would appreciate if anyone might know why clear out of the blue it started in safe mode and if that should happen again what I can do to get it back to normal mode. Thanks

Man!, I have almost the same problem, except I CANNOT get it to come out of safe mode, no matter what I try! What exactly did you do?

In your msdos.sys file if BootSafe=1 then it will always boot into safe mode.
Change it to read =0 and it will again boot normally.
