I was just wondering if i formated my c: drive would it not do anything to my d: drive even though there the same hard drive?

But everything on the C: will be gone...if windows is on it then you'll have to reinstall it (make sure you got ur cd key for windows)

I heard that when reformatting C:\ it is best to zero out the drive with an unconditional low level format first:
Format C: /U

Since some bytes might be resident on the new install. I 've never encountered such a problem but I now do the low level format as a matter of habit.

I also format for larger 32k clusters than the default 4k for the speed gain (Yes you do lose space) but keeping an 8.3 GB C:\ partition for O/S and programs only should not create a space issue (for me at least)
