Question help! cannot find C: drive?

Hi everybody, I'm a new one here

I just have a problem with my Win95 system. I tried everything I can and finally decide to reinstall it. I downloaded a Win95 bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com. Yesterday, I formatted C: and restart from A. When I got into the dos command, I can only find floppy drive A and cd drive R, but no C Seems strange. Anybody know why this happens, and how can I fix it? BTW, my computer is compaq one, and I cannot set bios options (press DEL or F1 or F4 when starting doesn't work), so please don't suggest me to restart from cd.

I decide to make a Dos boot disk today and try again. If that doesn't work either, I really don't know what to do. Help help please~

Hi. Welcome to CTH.

The model number of your Compaq would be helpful in determining if yours is one of those that has some of the BIOS data on the hard drive. It sounds like that may be the case. If it is, you will need to download the files to create the Compaq diskettes that are used in restoring the partition on the hard drive that holds some of the startup information normally found in the BIOS ROM.

Did your computer come with a 'Restore' or 'Quick Restore' CD? If yes, you should be able to restore back to factory with that disk. If no, you could contact Compaq with the computer model number and serial number, if known, and request assistance.

Thanks everybode for replying
No I do not have any recovery CD with me. I'm not the first owner of this computer and it's a old model with only 32M ram  The model is "compaq presario 4800 series", anyone know it? I briefly browse the compaq website, but cannot find any info about this model

Have you communicated with Compaq? Even tho' they may not currently have information on the 4800 series, their techies might have advice on a resolution.
