Hi, big problems with my modum again. I reinstalled win 98 again and now the comp does not detect my modum and files for it. I had an external modum that I disconnected and now on start up it keeps loading the software for that but not the internal modum that is there.
I had this problem before and some one told me to go into sys.in and alter a drive file but I have forgotten how. Also when I boot up windows I only get drive c and mouse listed and then it moves on to the screensaver.
Gettting back to the modum: I have run a diagnostic for it and it detects it and says its there, has a driver I have got from win98 and there are no conflicts but when I try to use it it says it cannot detect it.
I tried to find the original posting for this problem but it was a long time ago, I think I explained it better. Any help would be appreciated

1st You need to get rid of the files for the external modem. Just unplugging it, leaves the files there and Windows is still finding it, even though it is not physically attached.

START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL |ADD/REMOVE Programs, see if there is any entry for the External Modem software, if so highlight it and remove then reboot.

If not, what kind of external modem is it?

"Also when I boot up windows I only get drive c and mouse listed and then it moves on to the screensaver."

Do you have another drive in there that it is not detecting? Is it detecting your CDROM and Floppy?
