I have tried to get rid of the dial up modem noise to no avail. I do not have an advanced tab in order to go that route.Any other ideas. Thanks James T 45 Windows 98

Hi jamest45, welcome to CTH.
You can try this. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel. When Control Panel opens, double-click the Modem icons. In the Modems Properties dialog box, click Properties, and then use the slider to set the speaker volume to Off.

internal or external?
some external modems have their own volume control on the box.

atm0(zero) added to the initialization string will make the modem silent.
What is the us.rebotics model number?
