stop go stop go

Anybody know why my puter comes to a complete halt 3 seconds out of a 7 second cycle?
System = AMD 350, 128MB ram, All in Wonder vid card, S/B live audio, Win 98, Cable modem.
This usually happens after the systems been on a while but I can't say it's related to any specific program.
The only way to fix it is to re-boot.

Hi chuckj, welcome to the forum.

I am moving this topic to the windows98 forum, where it has a better chance of getting attention. This forum is for general discussions and off-topic subjects.

Thank you for the system info!!

Generally problems that occur randomly after the system has been running for a while are related to heat.

I am a fan of the AMD line but I am aware that they do have a tendency to run hot,(especially the K 5's and early Athlons).

Check your Power supply fan and your CPU's cooling fan for proper operation and use a can of compressed air to cleanse your system of any dust bunnies. You should also consider adding a case fan to your system.

Just for a trouble shooting, take the cover off the case and point a fan toward it. See if that will help any. It should help get air circulating around and help cool it abit...
