help with ctrl alt del box?

I was wondering if there is a way to get rid of some of the items in the box that pops up when you press ctrl alt and del? or is this the same as the start up menu, I did that one but there's still 19 things in this other box, (sorry don't know what to call it lol). thank you
Renee

Hi hy,
In Windows 98, that would be called the Close Program dialogue box.
What are the 19 things that are running? Not all of the items in the Close Program dialogue box will be in the start up menu.

The items you see in that box are running processes and many of those are also in your startup and should be left running (such as your AV, firewall, etc).

In addition, any browser windows and other applications you are running show up there. Some of them are started up and then stay. For instance I have an HP5550 printer and when I print something there is a background app (an HP task monitor?) that continues to run even if I turn the printer off. (I forget what it's name is.) Some of those you can End Task on if you recognize what they are.

Do not End Task on Systray or Explorer.

edit:
Here's a site with a list that should identify all those for you:
