Hi everyone - my first thread
Recently upgraded from Win 95 to 98 to accomodate the 5 port USB 2.0 card I need to connect a printer.
Installed the card in the free PCI slot powered up- Nuthin! no display, no hard drive activity dont think it even got as far as CMOS read.
Moved the card to another slot where the sound card had been and was running fine - same result dead as.
Have changed many cmos settings - no joy. Anyone else had this?

Well when I installed a usb 2.0 card I blew my power supply...what is the wattage of your current power supply? (it should be on a sticker on the side of your power supply...be sure to take safety precautions before opening your computer case (and NEVER open the power supply itself as it could cause fatal shock))

Good Luck:)

EDIT: Could you please also include your processor, ram, video card, sound card, other PCI (etc.) cards, harddrive, and cd/dvd drive information so we can mentally add up how much power your computer consumes.

Hi Welcome to CTH

What brand and model USB Card? Does it have junpers on it?

Take the sound and USB card out. Reboot and immediately enter BIOS (SETUP).

In there dusable USB support.

Reboot and let it boot up without the cards.

Now shut down.

Put the USB Card in (don't use the PCI slot closes to the processor.

It should boot and find the card and install. If a installation disk came with the card then install it.

Once the USB is working then install the sound card.
