I have DirectX 8, an updated TNT2 Pro video card, P3 877mhz, 128MB of Ram. Whenever i play games my computer freezes...can anyone help?

How long has this been going on?
Did this start after an Install or Uninstall?
How long and did this start happening after you got DirectX 8?????
