98 Freezes Fast
I just bought a used computer with windows 98 installed...However i was told by a friend of the person i bought it from that 98 wasn't supposed to be in the computer?????? Now i can't find the person i bought it from...My problem is it freezes before scandisk is complete. If i restart it freezes even quicker. Is there any hope for my problem? Or have i been shafted? PLEASE HELP.....

On the scandisk issue you may have a corrupted harddrive. I'd suggest you wipe the hard drive clean with a boot disk with the switch: A:\> format /u This will zero out the drive completely as if it came from the factory. Then partition with fdisk, and reformat. I don't know if you can run scandisk in dos but you could try chkdsk I think(?). Others here might lend more help than I can.
