sharing an all-in-one printer from ME

I have a lexmark all-in-one x85 printer usb connected to a ME desktop. All works fine. I want to be able to print from my laptop, XP Home edition. I have a D-link for networking. File shareing is fine and then I share the printer from ME. I can see the printer from the laptop. I add the printer and it adds the xp driver for the x85. All looks good, except I cannot print. Not the test page not anything. I read on lexmark's site that all-in-one cannot be shared on a network. This doesn't make sense to me. Certainly it's possible, even if I have to fake out the printer so it seems to come from the desktop. Any ideas?

According to the Lexmark site, the problem is due to the internal architecture of the following Lexmark devices:

Lexmark x63
Lexmark x83
Lexmark x85
Z82 Color Jetprinter

The only other info I could find on this suggests that it may be possible to bypass the problem using the serial port & a switchbox instead of USB. This method was untested, but in theory it should make the printer think it is local for both computers.

Good luck!

There are some printers that just don't work over a network, and yours looks like one of them.......
