When the computer first starts up I get the message: (Pri Master Hard: S.M.A.R.T. status Bad Back-up and replace. Place F1 to skip.)
How can I fix this?

SMART is there to tell you if the HDD is about to fail.
What make/model of HDD?
Most manufactrurers have utilities on their site that will test the drive.

Is there any way to shut off "S.M.A.R.T.", or to to bypass it?

There should be an option to Disable it in your computer's BIOS settings.
