How do I bring back the desktop icon in Quick Launch?

I accidentially deleted the desktop icon in the Quick Launch bar; how do I put it back there?. (Recycle bin has been cleaned out so, so I can't restore it.) Thanks.

Hi nayov

Go to C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
In the Quick Launch folder right click an empty spot and select
New> Text Document
Open the New Text Document and Copy and Paste this in it.

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Click File and Save, Close the file.
Right click the file and select Rename.
Name it: SHOWDE~1.SCF
You will receive the warning: If you change a filename extension, the file may become unusable.
Are you sure you want to change it.
Click YES

Restart the computer.

I don't know how I missed it when I did a search for it.
It's in the C:\Windows\System folder.
Open the C:\Windows\System folder and locate the
"Show Desktop" icon.
Drag and Drop it onto the Quick Launch bar.
This will create a Shortcut to Show Desktop,
but you can rename it.

Or you can Copy and Paste it from the
C:\Windows\System folder to the
C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch folder.

Hey that actually worked. :rock: The first method didn't or I just got hopelessly confused/lost. One question though. You said you did a search on how to do what I wanted done. Where did you search?

Glad you got it .
When I read your problem I figured the Show Desktop file
might also be somewhere else on the computer.
So I did a search for Show Desktop by right clicking the Start button
and selecting Search.
I know now why I didn't see it the first time I searched.
I had typed Show Desktop in the "Search for Files and Folders:" field
And the "Containing text:" field.
I should have typed it in the "Search for Files and Folders:" field only.
