Download AIDA32 from CTH, see home page, run it and record make and model of hardware drivers. Go to manufacturer's site and download drivers and then install them.

Oops, forgot your modem wasn't working. Borrow someone's PC and locate and download modem drivers, copy to a floppy.

Hi tomyt,
When you open AIDA, click on the Computer icon and then Summary icon. What, if anything, does it have listed under Multimedia>Audio Adapter and under Network>Network Adapter and/or Network>Modem?
When you are attempting to install/update the drivers for your modem, don't use the list to pick out the modem, click on the Have Disk button and then browse to where you have the driver files (either the folder on the hard drive or floppy disk).

Just keep me posted in each of your threads, and we'll eventually get things sorted. I'll be going to work in about another four hours, so I won't be on again after that until some time tomorrow afternoon.
Good luck!!

Right click on the My Computer icon, click on Properties, click on the Device Manager tab, double click on the word Modem (if there), the display will expand and may state the manufacter and model of the modem. Typically, surround the manufacturer's name with www. .com and you'll get to their site. Look for Support, Download, and/or drivers and go there, do a search on the rest of the words you found in Device Manager. This may lead you to the to the exact drivers for this model. Somewhere there will be a download button, click on it. You will receive a Download Manager display which will allow you to specify the directory that you want to receive the driver. Direct it to somewhere on your hard drive, such as My Download, then copy to floppy.
Add/New Hardware (in Start/Settings/Control Panel) or update driver in Device Manager Properties for the modem will lead you to a button that reads Have Disc, meaning the file name of the drivers on the discette.

still have the same problems. what aida lists under multimedia is c-media cm18738/c3dx audio device, intel 82801 AA i/o controller hub-ac97 audio adapter
under network is davidson DM9102 fast ehternet adapter
ive searched for the drivers on driver guide but must be doing something wrong, they don,t seem to work
in device manager under other devices are
PCIcard
PCI communacations device
PCI ethernet controller
PCI multimedia audio device
PCI serial controller
these all have what looks to be yellow queastion marks beside them, also under sound, vidio and game contollers beside AC 97 driver for intel 82801 controller theres something yellow beside that too
as for the modem i don,t see it anywhere
do all these things listed above need soft ware or programs to run or do i just need the drivers
thanks again

The model of your network adapter is Davicom DM9102. An advanced search on www.driverguide.com of dm9102.zip will yield several results, choose the 88% one. Not clear to me that you are on a network, so this may be unnecessary.
Apparently your modem is not being detected. I've experienced numerous failures of Windows to detect modems. Consider removing modem and recording any information that may be manufacturer or model and posting it here.
Maybe I can pursue the audio in a day or two. I am nursing my wife's hip replacement rehabilation, and let's face it, it is a women's job, they are tougher.
