winipcfg doesn't see network card

My computer is a Dell 4100, 1GZ P3, 512 megs ram, OS is Win98 SE. Device Mangler shows my network card, a Realtek RTL 8139 (A), as functioning correctly, but I cannot connect to the internet, or access my network with it.

When I run wingipcfg to check the card, it is not listed; only the ppp device is listed.

The card does show up in the Network Properties screens.

I have removed the card in Device Mangler, and then reinstalled after reboot, when Windows sees the card and installs it just fine.

However, winipcfg still doesn't see the card although DM shows it as present and functioning properly, and it is listed in the Network Properties screen (right click on Network Neighborhood desktop icon).

This is a dual boot system; the other OS is Win2K, and when I boot in it, the card works fine. I have internet and network access just fine when in Win2K, but can't get it to work in Win98 SE.

Any thoughts? and thanks....

Verify that the driver that is used in Win98 is the correct version for 98 and that it is the latest release. It is sounding that if Win2K is accepting just fine and Win98 is not, the driver for 98 is at fault.

Try...
Realtek Driver Download for RTL8139(A/B/C/D/8130)/810X series
