Uninstall software
I've been trying to uninstall a software program, but I keep getting an error message as follows:
Component: program dlls File Group: File: Error: Unspecified error Then an OK button and when I click this the uninstall is cancelled. I'm running Win98 with IE6 2479 Can you help? |

This could mean that the file in question is in use and cannot be removed. You have to make sure you exit the program before you uninstall it.
You would do well to invest in a commercial uninstall program, and save yourself some future headaches. The windows uninstall sequence is only as good as the program that you are uninstalling. In many cases it leaves dregs behind. I couldn't even guess the number of hours I might have wasted trying to manually uninstall a program, instead of having Clean Sweep monitor the program and then uninstall it for me. It was well worth the $30 or so. To the best of my knowledge there are no free programs which will peform this function.

Boot into SafeMode. Then try to uninstall it.
or, Try installing the program again, then uninstalling it. or, Use a program such as RegCleaner to remove the registry enties of the program. They you can delete the program from the install folder e.g. c:\program files\... http://www.verkkotieto.fi/jv16/index.shtml (Always becareful when using a program that alters the registry)
