no dial tone epidemic

hi

I had trouble with my modem so I deleted it and re-installed it
the modem was detected loaded the right driver still no dial tone then I noticed in system manager I have com ports 1 and 2 and a printer port
when i re installed the modem it is configured for com port 5.How do install the modem to com port 1 or 2? This is on a HP pavilion 7865 with windows me
