Boot problem

Hello,
can someone decipher blue screen error message--0E 0187 BFF66818.Not listed with Google.
It is to do with dual HDD and different o/s on each one.
I imagine it relates to the MBR not knowing which one to boot up.
I presume a Boot Manager would overcome this? However I am reluctant to install one until I determine the cause of the crash.

I believe it would help if you gave more information as to how this started, did you just finish installing the second OS or has this booted before successfully, what OS's do you have installed, are you using Partition magic or some other partitioning program? Sorry but the info you gave is just not enough for me.

Ok,firstly, partitioning has been done through DOS.One primary on master containing WinMe.
Slave has one primary containing 98SE and an extended containing two logical--both empty.
Problems began after I had installed the 98 drivers then closed down --coudn't reboot.Came up hard drive missing and asked to insert system disc.
Went into Dos ran Fdisk/mbr
which allowed boot process to continue. However crashed again on shutdown this time.
Do not have a boot manager installed--would this fix things and allow me to choose o/s ?
If I installed XP Home on to one of the slave logical drives would the boot manager in that o/s allow me to boot up with an o/s choice.?
Ps. I have had to disconnect the slave at this stage.
Thanks
Toju

The boot manager may allow you to boot up,worth a try,I use boot magic and when booting OS's on separate drives,slave-master, you need to set it for advanced hiding so it can see both drives, the way I install multiple OS's is to first set up the master with an OS then remove that from the machine and put the slave drive in as the master and set up the OS on that, then set the drives up as i'm going to use them, boot up ,it should boot to the master , then install boot magic.I don't know if XP will see two OS's that are on separate hard drives.HTH
