I dont know why but for no reason my CD-RW drive is makin the sound like it is trying to open but it wont open . I cant run a virus scan on it because it says it has a utility lock or somethin like that. It wont open for me even when i push the button, and there has been no physical force to knock it out of place. It will open every once in awhile just fine. But for the most part its just this clicking noise coming from my CD-RW drive like it is trying to open but cant. Anyone experienced this before? Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do?

When you try to open the drive by pushing the button it just clicks most of the time, but will sometimes open? Sounds like the teeth on the gear wheels are not fitting correctly which indicates they are either worn down or broken.

Thanks
Thanks but would that explain it trying to open on itself for 20 out of the 24 hours of the day? I mean i walk into my room and havent been on the computer for 10 hours and it is clicking like crazy.... I restart it and it starts clicking before it even finishes booting up agian... i shut it down completely and power back up and i get the same result..... Its like its trying to open on its own for no reason
