Hey folks...
I have a older HP External CDWriter that won't accept Nero... I noticed that Roxio now owns the Adaptec software. My question is this: Can I use Nero on my HP CD Writer or must I use the Roxio software?
TIA

See if your CD-Writer is on the list here (http://www.nero.com/en/recorders.php) Cisage.

AnnMarie...
I found this to be the closest to my cd-writer, but there is no CD-writer in front of this code:
7500 IDE/ATAPI 2x2x24x - x - 4.0.3.4
There was an x at the second line, indicating that it is CD-Text? What does that mean?
Also does that mean I have to contact Nero for their cd?
TIA

Hi Cisage, I dont think that "closest" is enough. If your CD-writer model is not on the list, I think that it is fair to say that it's not supported. You could try an email to be sure though if you wish.

My last computer was hp and about 5 years old. Nero worked ok on it. Maybe an earlier version of nero would work. You cannot have any roxio or adaptec burning software installed at the same time as nero without a special separate boot plug in from nero. If you had roxio installed maybe that's the problem.
My current computer isn't listed yet but it works fine since I removed the roxio that came with it.
You might check the troubleshooting guide. It has suggestions such as upgrading firmware etc. There are no hp writers listed under the recorders that nero doesn't support because they are too old.

Thanks Pitti,
I will try your suggestions and if all else fails... I will just have to get me a new cd/dvd writer for my computer. Thanks also to AnnMarie for her assistance to me as well!
