cd burner

Hi all, silly question time again. So I have just bought a new cd writer, thoughts of all the different uses for it etc, when it occurs to me; how do I attatch it? Do I take out my old cd player and put in the recorder or would it be better to have it as a slave? does it make a lot of difference as far as memory or ease of use is concerned?
thanks for the help

Well if you think you are going to use 2 cd drives you can keep both in there. I highly suggest setting the cd-writer as master (otherwise they can have troubles for whatever reason). And then set your current cd drive as slave. Be sure to set the jumpers and follow the directions included with the drive (be sure to statically discharge yourself so you don't zap anything inside and ruin it). If the computer has trouble turning on, unplug the drive after checking all the cables because your power supply may not be able to handle 2 cd drives.
(Be sure to never work on the insides of the computer with it on)

Good Luck.

Thanks enat66, that's why I love this site, everyone is very helpful. I only have 1 cd drive on my comp - yes it's quite old - so if I replace that with the cd writer will the writer still function as a player as well? I replaced a drive before so is it the same as doing that?
Also, I know that this isnt the place to ask this question but I know Mishy reads some of what goes on but I really like this site and want to contribute to it financially but being a Brit - sorry - can I send some money with a debit card and just bung you a tenner? thats more than $5.00 but its worth it and how do I go about it?
