win me to 98
I hate windows ME, is it possible to just format the drive and install win98?
Also can you use the win me bootup disk for this or will i need a win98 boot disk? I know it sounds a silly question but i have been told that you can run into problems doing this! One last thing... from DOS i want to copy the win98 cd to the d: drive first and install from that but i have forgotton the dos command, its been so long since i have used it! Thanks |

Why not copy the Win98 CD to the D drive in Windows? It would be easier.
The process will be very similar to this http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/...ad.php?t=22790

The Windows 98 & ME boot disks are essentially the same thing. If all you are doing is formatting then either will work just fine.
And as degsy said, it will be a helluva lot easier to copy the disc over in ME before formatting. Then after format switch to D:\<folder where you put 98> and type setup.exe and you're in the 98 setup. BTW, good choice going back to 98, ME is evil.
